Throughout the year, the Gift of Life Institute hosts instructor-led learning events specific to the donation professional. A list of upcoming offerings can be viewed in the Current Offerings window.

Themes vary from course to course. In keeping with our mission, our goal is to increase organ and tissue donation rates. We focus on skills with the greatest potential to increase donor numbers and ultimately decrease the waiting list.

Examples of our classes listed below:

• Level 1 Organ Communication and Consent/Authorization courses focus on the fundamental elements of approaching potential donor families.
• Level 2 Organ Communication and Consent/Authorization courses focus on the same principles and practices as the Level 1 courses, but are intended for more experienced staff members who would like to learn how to navigate more complex consent situations.
• Hospital Development courses are targeted toward OPO employees who are responsible for building effective partnerships with hospital staff that result in optimal and sustainable donation rates.
• The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality assessment is a widely respected questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences. Our program models those recognized traits and applies them to the OPO world. This class is ONLY offered through the Gift of Life Institute.
